O Brasil fechou a sua participação no Festival de Cannes 2018 trazendo 101 Leões, mais até do que em 2017 e em um ano no qual a organização prometia reduzir a distribuição de estatuetas.
Na verdade, a presença brasileira chegou a merecer dois Grand Prix, fato inédito na história do país no Festival de Cannes. Foram para a África, com um dos sete prêmios conquistados por “Tagwords”, criado para Budweiser, e para a Grey, que também levou sete Leões com “Detetor de Corrupção”, desenvolvido para o site Reclame Aqui. Não por acaso, as duas agências ficaram os as melhores colocações entre as participantes brasileiras.
Para as agências de fora de São Paulo, no entanto, este foi um dos piores anos dos últimos tempos. O Rio, que só havia chegado a um único shortlist, com o trabalho “Paixão Cega”, da NBS para o Flamengo, voltou de mãos abanando em estatuetas. Do mercado regional brasileiro, apenas a Propeg, de Salvador, e a Master, da Curitiba, trouxeram Leões.
